Justin and I recently moved into a new place and we have such a huge list of things we want to accomplish/buy (painting, furniture, rugs, curtains, etc.) that it’s hard to know where to start.  We’ve been hopping back and forth between improvements for each room, but now that the living room is almost in order, I can’t wait to work on the bedroom.  We have a good start with the sweetest quilt in America.

The quilt does a lot, but the room needs so much more to make it come alive.  I’m working on a crochet throw to give the bed a bit more texture (and to keep me toasty when Justin turns on his fan, or as we call it around our house, the Climate Keeper™) and it’s coming along slowly but surely.  It’s just an easy v-stitch, but I like the simplicity and airiness of it.

Our friend Nicci is a designer and she was kind enough to help us pick a paint color pallette for the entire house (among other things like floorplan recommendations and lots and lots of donated magazines for inspiration).  We’ve decided to go with a deep rich brown for the bedroom which should look beautiful with the bright accessories we’ll have in there.

The biggest issue we’re having is furniture placement.  The bed is in its third position since we moved (the first we were both “eh” about, the second Justin didn’t like, and the third I’m not terribly crazy about).  Because the room has a lot of doors and windows we are pretty much limited to those three positions, so a compromise is imminent.  While surfing the internets, I came across this pretty bedroom on designsponge which happens to have a lot of similarities with what we have and where I’d like to go.

The layout of the room is similar to ours and while we don’t have a canopy bed, Nicci recommended an easy headboard project which may do the trick.   We have a lot more to do, but I’ll keep you updated as we make progress!
